ARTISTS COMMUNICATE THROUGH THEIR WORK: Over the past couple of weeks I have been working on my Man VS Machine art project. In order to compare and contrast man and machine, I drew a half man, and half robot face. I decided to make the robot or machine side of the paper darker and shaded in as if it is in the dark, and left the human side light. I did this to express the difference between the two. I also see robots as the darker, more "evil" one out of the two. I see them as heartless and emotionless, while humans on the other hand have sympathy and can feel emotions, causing us to have morals, values, and ethics. The man's face in my drawing has a happy and determined expression on his face to express that the human race has goals that we wish to achieve, while machines just do as they are told and only have one goal in mind. The robot also has a evilish look to him and he does not have ears. This is because if he were to turn or rebel against humans he would not listen to our reasoning to stop whatever destruction he may be causing.
ARTISTS DEVELOP ARTISTIC SKILLS: Throughout this project I learned many new techniques. I have learned how to draw facial features and expressions, I learned about the effects of shading, and I learned about the value of different shades of pencil shading. This project helped me develop my artistic technique a lot. Before we started this, I felt as if I had no artistic skills. However, now I feel like I could one day truly be a good artist with more practice.
